• BACKUP COMPLETENESS: No sent or received e-mail or calendar items can be removed from the GroupWise message store until it is backed up with GroupWise. This is because Reload integrates with the SmartPurge feature of GroupWise.

• SMALL BACKUP SIZE: Backup sizes are what makes Reload totally unique when compared to all other backup solutions for GroupWise. Daily (incremental) backups for post offices only backs up changes. Daily backups are only 1/8^th of the total size of the post office, however each daily backup is effectively as usable as a full backup. This is because Reload immediately links the newly backed up data with the previously backed up data.

• FASTEST BACKUP SPEED: Reload is the fastest backup solution for GroupWise. Reload is faster than the NetWare TSA! Backup times are greatly enhanced by the fact that Reload uses multiple threads to backup data from a GroupWise post office. Read the BACKUP SPEED EXAMPLES section further down this page for more information.

• HIGHEST BACKUP QUALITY: With release 2.5 of Reload, Reload creates Highly Consistent Backups. With this feature, you are guaranteed that even items received during the time of the backup are fully backed up by Reload. A user will never encounter an scenario in which they have a new received item in their mailbox on the Reload server, and some portion of the message is not also backed up.

• MESSAGE VAULT: Once items are in the Reload backup, although users can be allowed to access their mailbox, user cannot purge items in the Reload backup.

• EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGES: Specific users can be excluded from the SmartPurge feature as needed. One customer wanted an executive to be excluded from not being able to purge items from their trash before it was backed up. This is very easy to enable.

• INTRA-DAY BACKUPS: Incremental Backups can be pulled once a day, or several times a day, time is the greatest factor effecting how often a backup can be pulled.

• SCHEDULING FLEXIBILITY: The Scheduling system for GWAVA Reload is very simple, but has more advanced scheduling. For example you can configure the GWAVA Reload server to do such and such action on every third Thursday of the month. Or on the 25th day of the month do such and such.

• BACKUP SPEED EXAMPLES: Reload Full Backups are very efficient in how long they take, because Reload only requires pulling off the data the very first time a profile is backed up. A master copy of the data is kept on the Reload server, and fully synchronized with the live post office at the time of the Full Backup. • SIGNIFICANTLY SPEEDS UP TAPE BACKUPS: The GWAVA Reload server can be configured to create a single Tape Archive (*.tar) file that contains a full week backup set within it. The Tape Archive file is large, but because it is just one file, getting it to tape or retrieving it from tape is very simple. For example in the customer environment with the 50 Gigabyte post office, their weekly Tape Archive which contains 7 days of backups fully contained in one file is approximately 57 Gigabytes.

• CUSTOMIZABLE TAPE CONFIGURATIONS: The GWAVA Reload server can be configured to push the Tape Archive to another location if so desired. For example in one customer environment, Reload is pushing a 57 Gigabyte Tape Archive via a CIFS connection to a Windows server running Veritas backup software.

• CONSOLIDATE TAPE BACKUP AGENTS: If the customer desires to integrate their tape backup software agent to pull backups only from the Reload server, they need only to point the backup software at the "export" directories associated with each Reload profile.

• DECREASES TAPE BACKUP SYSTEM WEAR: Reload is easily integrated into currently existing tape backup schemes. Reload is not generally meant to replace Tape backup systems. These systems are needed for long-term storage. Reload is basically a near-term restoration system that makes it so that Tape backup systems get less wear and tear, and many man-hours are saved. GroupWise Administrators, Backup Administrators, Users, and Auditors will all appreciate Reload.

• BACKUP ARCHIVING: The Reload server can be configured to "archive" off data that no longer should be kept on the Reload server. Once data is archived off, it is no longer managed by Reload. For example GWAVA Reload could be configured to archive data off of the Reload server after two or three weeks. The archive location might be a NAS device or some other large cheap storage solution.
