- EASY SOFTWARE DESIGN:
No software (backup agents) are installed to the
servers that house the GroupWise post offices or domains. The Reload server is
all that you install. See the
Reload
Quick Tour for more detailed information.
- SIMPLE UPGRADES:
Upgrading the Reload server software is
push-button easy. You can design the Reload server software to upgrade
automatically.
- COMPLETE PLATFORM SUPPORT:
Reload backs up GroupWise post offices and domains on every platform that
GroupWise runs on. The platforms are listed below:
NetWare
NetWare Clusters
Linux
Linux
Clusters
Windows
- COMPATIBILITY: GWAVA Reload backs up GroupWise 6.5, GroupWise 7
and GroupWise 8 post offices and domains. All versions
of post
offices and domains can be backed up to the same Reload server.
- MONITORING: GWAVA's Redline product
integrates with Reload. Reload can notify through e-mail, when jobs are
finished and/or have an error condition. Reload has a simple status page in
which you can easily see the status of all Reload profiles, and the last
backup taken for each profile.
- RETAIN INTEGRATION: Once GWAVA Retain is integrated into a GroupWise system,
Reload data can be used as the place that Retain dredges the GroupWise message
store. This makes management of the Retain dredging process simpler and
scheduling times more flexible.
- REVEAL INTEGRATION: Once GWAVA Reveal is integrated into a GroupWise system,
Reload data can be accessed via Reveal.
- SIMPLE
INSTALL: Installing GWAVA Reload does not require any deep Linux expertise. The
command to
install GWAVA Reload, and all the dependency software that it requires is one
command,
that is documented in the GWAVA Reload documentation.
- MENU DRIVEN: Controlling processes
such as the GWAVA Reload Daemon is both accessible from
the GWAVA
Reload Administration Menu, or from the command line. For those that are very
familiar with
Linux, the GWAVA Reload system is very configurable and controllable from a
terminal
session. However for those not familiar with Linux, they will be glad that the
Reload
system can be controlled from a menu-driven system, similar to the C-Worthy
interface of
NetWare.
- PROFILE CONFIGURATION WIZARD: Creating GWAVA Reload profiles is a simple wizard-driven process. Answer a
few
questions, and a Reload profile is created and ready to begin performing
backups.
- ONE FEATURE TO ENABLE IN CONSOLEONE:
The only changes needed to the GroupWise system is to enable the SmartPurge
feature in ConsoleOne for post offices being backed up with GroupWise. This is
matter of
taking off one checkmark.
- EFFICIENT SERVER USE: Each Reload
server can be configured to back up as many as 20 post offices and 20
domains (Reload profiles). Limitations on disk space, and time to create a
backup are the
most likely limitation as to how many profiles can be created.
- ADMINISTRATIVE INTERFACE ACCESSIBILITY:
The Reload Console Administration utility can be accessed through a variety of
methods.
What's particularly nice is that the Reload Administration is friendly to
SSH
sessions. There are SSH clients for every PC platform, but more particularly
there are even
SSH clients for devices such as mobile phones, and mobile PDA platforms. The
GWAVA Reload
server detects the size of the screen of the SSH client and for small devices, a
simple
littler interface comes up called Reload Mobile. The Reload Mobile interface
uses only
numbers to control menu choices, rather than numbers and letters. All that is needed to run Reload mobile
is number
keys, and an enter key of some sort.
- FLEXIBLE DISK CONFIGURATION: The GWAVA Reload server can easily be configured to back up data
either to a local disk, a SAN, or NFS mount to a Linux or Unix server. Some
Linux based NAS devices can also be used. For example the Buffalo Terastation
Pro II.
- FLEXIBLE DISK CONFIGURATION: Different GWAVA Reload profiles can be configured to keep data in different
locations.
So for example PROFILE1 (Example Naming) can keep data on SAN1, PROFILE2 can be
configured
to keep data on SAN2, PROFILE3 can be configured to keep data on the local hard
drive of
the Linux server, and PROFILE4 can be configured to keep data on a Linux/Unix
Mainframe
that the Reload server is mounted to with an NFS mount.
- BACKUP CUSTOMIZATION:
All Reload backup types support custom command
execution when a job begins, job errors, and job ends.
- LOGGING:
The Reload server creates logs
specific to each
profile, and a system wide logs. Logs are easily accessible through the Reload
Web Administration interface and the Reload Terminal Administration interface.
- DOCUMENTATION: The Reload server hosts
all of the Reload documentation. Reload has video documentation that is hosted
right on the Reload server. Learning how to configure Reload is easy due to
the video documentation.
